Between Dark Places, 2014.
(Pencil and graphite on Stonehenge paper)
FORESTS : BURIAL (2012-2014) is a collection of memories from journeys through woodland and forests connected through the theme of cycles.
There is a continual conversation between light, dark, over ground and underground and things slipping between. Crossing from shadow to light in only a few strides.
PLACING MORECAMBE (2013) was a cross-disciplinary collaboration with Lancaster University, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
The prevalent theme was the horizon. The horizon being something transient, mystical and in-between. I chose a process that suggests impermanence and fragility. The chalk dust is moveable, flaky and easily spoiled or blown away. I gave my drawings the title of Boundary I to IV. A boundary being another meaning for horizon, or marker. Like the posts in the water and like the edge of a coast and the beginning of the sea. We cross them and they shift in a contrary way.
